Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Welcome back to another exciting school year at Hulett! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer break. We are thrilled to return to another year filled with learning, growth, and success. First, I want to share my background. In June of 2023, my wife and I relocated to the Black Hills of South Dakota, where my wife is currently working as the Controller for the Sanford Underground Research Facility in Lead, so we are residing in Spearfish, South Dakota. I have two children currently attending Black Hills State University. My daughter Alex is working toward a degree in Special Education and my son Brendan is enrolled in the field of Environmental Science.

During the 2023-2024 school year, I worked as the seventh-grade special education teacher at Sturgis Williams Middle School in Sturgis South Dakota. Prior to teaching in Sturgis, I spent twenty-one years    at Goshen County School District #1 in Torrington, Wyoming, where I worked as a special education teacher at both the middle school and elementary level. I also worked for one year as Dean of Student between two elementary schools, where I performed administrative duties. Through my career in education, I have also been blessed with the opportunity to share my love of sports with student athletes. I have served as head coach or assistant coach in the following areas: middle school wrestling, high school wrestling, middle school track, and high school cross-country. I truly believe coaching provided me an opportunity to mentor and build lifelong relationships with all my athletes and their families. Please encourage your children to participate in all extracurricular activities, as the benefits go well beyond what can be taught in the classroom.

I firmly believe that every student deserves a safe learning environment where each student is free to take risks without the fear of failure. It is also their right to receive the highest quality of instruction to prepare them to be competitive in the global marketplace. Education extends
beyond academics; it includes 21st-century skills such as character development, workplace readiness, and essential life skills. My goal is to provide opportunities for every student to receive a well-rounded education, so he or she will have numerous options upon graduation.

Together, we can make this school year a rewarding and memorable one for all of our students. As we embark on this new academic year, I want to take a moment to highlight some important updates and upcoming events:

A) Jasia Lueck = 2 nd Grade Teacher
